R4 and firewire

high!

Gordon, tell me please, is it possible to send R4' output to dv-cam, connected with pc via firewire? what settings must have the card with firewire interface to be able to force dvi stream - when R4 runs in fullscreen with correct for dv screen sizes?

no idea i'm afraid. It should behave like any other app, so there should be data on doing it somewhere

dont you think this function must be implemented in rendering software? i mean, maybe it could be possible to do like selection of primary/secondary monitor in R4? or this is driver's matter? this options available in some visualisations programs, like arkaos or resolume... i think this is very usefull feaute..

You can easily select primary or secondary monitor on R4. Is that all that is required?
Does DV create an extra 'monitor' that sends everything on it over a DV stream?

sorry, but as I understand you don't understand my idea :( the matter is.... i try to as more quality capture stream from R4... it's necessary for me to made quality demo DVD with my work. and I have an idea: inasmuch as s-video and composite signal very loose quality (as compared with VGA or DVI signals) I suppose that would be cool to get out from R4 generated graphics on Firewire (IEEE1394) port (like @ arkeos, it allows to get Direct DV output through FireWire). is it possible in r4?

if this was possible, it whould also make no problem to have an extra preview window, so you could see what is going on eaven if you have the main r4 window not vissible the wall at the moment... but i´m not sure if this is possible with generated output of r4 instead of video like in arkaos. but as i know visual jockey can do this (preview, not sure bout that firewire thing...)

DVD recorders will record RGB via SCART, and a good VGA->TV box will output SCART too.
That should produce a really good quality encoding for you.
