6600GT or 6800?

Hi,
I am currently looking at the Nvidia 6600GT and the Nvidia 6800 graphic cards to use with R4 . The 6600GT is somewhat cheaper than the the 6800, but I'm not sure if R4 perhaps needs the extra firepower provided by the 6800.
So, bottom line, is the 6600GT good enough to smoothly run R4.

I'm afraid I'm not totally sure, but my guess would be that the 6600 has more than enough power to go around.

The 6600 should be fine the best I have properly tried R4 on is 5900Ultra and that runs very smoothly. Only in certain combinations of faders and certain scenes does it slow down below 60fps running at 1024x512 buffer size and 1028x768 screen size..and then teh slowdoen is not much at all. The 6600GT has more firepower than that too so I forsee no problems.

after recent upgrade im running.

512mb ddr400
Gigabyte K8NF-9 nForce4 (Socket 939)
Gigabyte 6600GT pci-e (128mb)
Athlon64 3000+
Windows XP pro


R4 cruse's at 60FPS @ 1280x1024 70Hz (lcd) ---
occasionaly dropps to 35 fps when changing audio track (but only when playing audio off remote server via wifi - bizzar)


old setup:

512mb ddr400
PCHIPS mobo
Athlon 2000xp
Radeon 9600xt
Windows XP pro

R4 didnt wanna run above 800x600 and even then at times it slowed below 27fps .

Currently im studying Interactive Media Managment at Portsmouth Uni (3rd yr).
my main project being sound visulization, im not not delving to far into programming sound vis though.
